About the Diagnostician

Alysia Williams is an Autistic, ASHA licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, and Certified Autism Specialist.

She has two bachelors degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Studies, and a Bachelors of Science in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology. She graduated with her Masters Degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Columbia University. She has worked for close to a decade with K-12 students with various disabilities and neurodivergence. Currently she works as a Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist in the Boston area. Seeing the gap in awareness and availability of support for autistic adults compared to autistic children, she launched her passion project “Enter the Spectrum” to provide Autism evaluations for adults and connect Autistic adults with online resources.

She has been writing poems since she was five years old.  She was one of six poets whose work was selected to be showcased in the “Through These Realities” exhibition in the Boston area. The poem she wrote expressing how she felt after receiving her official Autism diagnosis entitled “Beautiful Shattering” was featured in the documentary “Seeking Wradiance” a documentary about Autism in women which premiered at Autifest in 2024.

In her free time she enjoys traveling, board games, writing poetry, and spending time with her family and significant other. She recently appeared on Autism Personal Stories Podcast to talk about her autistic experience. Her special interests include: language and linguistics (particularly relating to that of African diaspora in the Caribbean and U.S.), puns, idioms, wordplay, and interesting words ( like petrichor), musicals and DCOMS of the 90s and 2000s. She’s also fascinated by spiders, interesting abilities in plants and animals, anything mechanical and inner workings of machines.

About Enter the Spectrum

Enter the Spectrum is a practice created by Alysia Williams, a licensed speech-language pathologist and Certified Autism Specialist. The desire to create Enter the Spectrum came out of the realization that Autism is grossly misunderstood and underidentified in girls. Many women discover their neurodivergence during adulthood-  she is exhibit A.  Enter the Spectrum provides Autism Evaluations for adults.  It also connects autistic adults with online resources to better understand and accommodate their unique autistic experience.
